Tea Cart with Birds Stencil

Here's the tea cart I mentioned in my Chevron Tea Cart. If you'd like to see my posting here. This tea cart is a little bit wider in depth than the previous one. I wanted to make something different out of it but I am not really sure what it was. Here's I came up with:

Here's how I started. I first sanded it.

I painted the top first because I got excited to do a stencil on top.

Here's the one I made. But I did not like it. I tried to save some money here by using a craft paint. End result? Not good. :(

I decided to repaint the top and followed the body. (See where I did it? In my dining area. I don't have any space to do it.)

Here's the leaf after repainting it. I decided to use the same technique I used in my stencilled throw pillow case.
See technique here. Except here I used spray paint.

I placed the stencil and cover the rest with newspaper.

Spray painted it with brown.

Used two stencil. Here's the result. And I love it.

I reassembled the cart and here's the view with one leaf up.

 Two leaves up.

And a leaf down. Sorry for the blurred photo.

Did I make the right decision to change the stencil? Let me know what you think. Feel free to pin it if you like it. Thanks for viewing.

And He said to them, "Because of the littleness of your faith; for truly I say to you,
if you have faith as a mustard seed, you shall say to this mountain,
'Move from here to there,' and it shall move;
and nothing shall be impossible to you. - Matthew 17:20

Fruits and Nuts Rice Krispies Treat

Part of my year 2013 plan is to prepare our snack for each week. This is another way for our family to save in our expenses.

Since I am a huge fan of Cadbury Fruits and Nuts. Why not try it in rice krispies. Check out my recipe.

Fruits and Nuts Rice Krispie Treats.

  • 4 cups rice krispies cereal (any brand will do)
  • 5 cups mini marshmallows (any brand will do as well)
  • 1/2 cup roasted thin sliced almonds
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 3 tbsp butter
Direction:
  1. Spray a 9 x 13 dish with cooking spray.
  2. Combine rice krispies cereal, almonds, raisins, and semi sweet chocolate chips in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. Melt butter in a saucepan then add the marshmallows. Stirring constantly until melted under medium heat.
  4. Spray cooking spray in spatula. Pour the melted marshmallows into the rice krispies mix and use the spatula to mix it.
  5. Once combined pour it in the 9 x 13 dish and flatten.
  6. Let it sit to completely cool  then cut into square.
  7. Keep it in air tight container.
Note: Try freezing the chocolate chips before making the treats. In my experience, some of the chocolate chips melted after pouring the melted marshmallows. You can also add other nuts and dried fruits.

Tell me what you think. If you like it, please feel free to Pin it or leave your comment and suggestion. Thanks and enjoy your treats.

Chevron Tea Cart

I love to have a tea cart and when I found it in Craigslist I grab the opportunity to take it. To be honest not just one, I got two.

I decided to transform this tea cart based on my design like. It's in great condition. Wheels are moving smoothly. It's slim and "leaves" can go up or down easily. It has a small drawer. If you'd like to know how I change her look, please come along with me...

First, I sanded everything. Once done, I wiped and cleaned everything to remove the dust.

To easily paint it, I removed both leaves, some hardware, and the big wheels.

I primed it twice and painted it twice.

I placed all the pattern. I used the same procedure I made in my screen print upcycle pillow case here. I made sure that all the patterns are pressed down to the table. I cover the sides with newspaper to avoid any paint to go through.

I sprayed a light coat first until I covered everything. I sprayed twice. Once the paint was dry, I removed the pattern. If you'd like to avoid any retouch after the spray paint, I suggest that you use a painter's tape.

Here's I came out with.

I spray painted the caster wheels silver.

This tea cart is great to use in entry way, porch, kitchen, side table, or serving in dining room.

What can you say? Did I made the right decision to transform it? Another tea cart is coming out soon. Keep visiting.

And another topic, don't miss out! I am hosting a giveaway. Enter for a chance to win a My Memories Suite v4 Software. A great digital scrapbooking software. Here's the link.

So, whether you eat or drink,
or whatever you do,
do all to the glory of God.
